God Is Our Refuge

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Psalm 46:1-3 NKJV

Sometimes we all just need a passage of scripture to stand on. One that we can use when life seems to be falling apart. The above verses are just that kind of passage. The Psalmist reminds us that God is a refuge, our strength, and our help in trouble.

Serving God is the best way to live out our lives day by day. When life is challenging, our God provides. One of the names of God is Jehovah-Jireh and that means the Lord shall provide. He provides a refuge when needed. Strength when we are weak and help when trouble is knocking on our doors. We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

The Psalmist  says we need not fear even though the earth is removed and the mountains are carried into the sea, and the waters roar.

Whatever is happening today in your life or in the life of someone you know, be brave in the power of Jesus. Run to him for refuge and strength. Trust him with your whole heart. He is present. He is a very present help. You may not always feel him near but he is with you if you are following him with your life. If you aren’t following him start today!
